Canvas Artist Talks take place on selected Mondays during January, April, July and October. Happening in Shimokitazawa, they are informal meetings where artists get together to discuss art and ideas.
If you are just starting out in the Tokyo art world or if you have been making art here for decades, you are welcome to join us. But it isn’t only artists who are invited, all Canvas creatives are welcome to sit in.
At each event, four guest artists give short talks before a quick Q & A. This time, the guest artists are Lan Chunghsuan, Arthur Huang, Hai-Hsin Huang and Karin Pisarikova.
For the first time, this edition of Canvas Artist Talks includes two artists who are currently participating in the Artist-In-Residence program at 3331 Arts Chiyoda, Lan Chunghsuan and Hai-Hsin Huang.
As usual, a wide range of media is on show. Lan Chunghsuan works almost exclusively in photography, Arthur Huang works in drawing, installation and with community workshops, Hai-Hsin Huang populates her oil canvases with human figures, and Karin Pisarikova works across installation, video, photo and performance.
And of course it's a good chance to meet the artists and other creatives.
Doors open from 7pm. Talks start from 7:30.
