CANVAS Sequential Art Meetup - Comics & Visual Storytelling #03

Sun, 22 Apr 2018 17:00 - 20:00 JST

Tokyo Chapter Gallery

東京都港区赤坂9-2-13

Description

Calling all Tokyo-based creatives interested in comics and visual storytelling! Julia Nascimento, Hengtee Lim from Everyst, and the Canvas Tokyo team (www.canvas.co.com) invite you to join us for an evening of great talks and meeting new people!

Our third event is dedicated to “hajime”, and anthology zine by seven non-Tokyo-native artists sharing their first experiences in Tokyo. Through mediums including illustration, comics, and poetry, each artist tells a unique story, and our upcoming meet-up is a chance to see the exhibited work and the artists’ thoughts on it.

We’ll start with self-introductions and a brief talk on ToCo – the Tokyo Collective, which is behind the “hajime” project – and then give time to the artists to talk about the artwork on display. We’ll follow this with a QA/discussion session, so be sure to mention any topics you’re interested in on the CANVAS events page so we can make sure it’s covered!

After the talks, we’ll open the floor to networking, conversation, and collaboration, so we encourage everyone to bring a sample of your work to share with other participants!

Tokyo Chapter has generously allowed us to use their lovely space for the evening! Also, if you’re free on the 14th of April, come for the exhibition’s reception party from 18:00 and support the artists! (https://www.facebook.com/events/134627380701966)

Admission is free but space is limited to 30, so only sign up if you’re sure you can attend! If you discover that you will not be able to attend for some reason, please ensure you update your RSVP so your place can be given to someone in the waitlist.

The meetup will take place on the last day of the exhibition, don’t miss it!

We’re looking forward to seeing you!
