CANVAS Sequential Art Meetup - Comics & Visual Storytelling #04

Tue, 22 May 2018 19:00 - 22:00

Everyst HQ

Kitazawa 2-33-5 Shimokitazawa TKS Building 3F (Look out for the yellow staircase just past the Rainbow Cafe on the corner!)

Calling all Tokyo-based creatives interested in comics and visual storytelling! Julia Nascimento, Hengtee Lim from Everyst, and the Canvas Tokyo team ( invite you to join us for an evening of great talks and meeting new people!

We're happy to announce that our fourth event will include a guest presentation from Sean Michael Wilson, an Eisner and Harvey award nominated graphic novel and comic book writer! Sean will be in town for a lecture in Shinjuku on the 23rd (titled "Knowing History Through Manga", it looks really interesting!), and on the 22nd he'll be talking about his work and career to date!

Playing the support band role, we'll also have Hengtee Lim talking about his short story collaborations with artists, and the exciting new stories he's helping to develop with the team at Everyst!

As always we'll hold a brief QA after the talks (so be sure to mention any topics you're interested in on the CANVAS events page!) and then open the floor to networking, conversation, and collaboration, so we encourage everyone to bring a sample of their work to share with other participants!

Admission is free but space is limited to 20, so only sign up if you’re sure you can attend! If you discover you will not be able to attend for some reason, please ensure you update your RSVP so your place can be given to someone in the waitlist.

We’re looking forward to seeing you!

Julia Nascimento and Hengtee Lim
